On the road to Compostela

Tournai, city of art and history on the road to Compostela.

Discover Tournai, a welcome place for pilgrims on their way to Compostela.

Our medieval city has always welcomed thousands of pilgrims from Flanders and Northern Europe, who converge on the same destination: Santiago de Compostela (Northern Spain).

The 2000-year-old city has kept prestigious witnesses from this rich past: classified facades and houses, picturesque streets, historic districts, and above all, two monuments listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the oldest Belfry in Belgium.

Discover our brand new brochure

To welcome you and to provide you with all the information you need, a specific leaflet has been created: origins of the city, must-sees, traces of Saint-James throughout the city, the St. James associations and accommodation... nothing has been left to chance!

You can also keep a little souvenir of your time in Tournay. Postcards, notebooks, magnets, key rings or bookmarks bearing the sign of Santiago de Compostela are on sale at the Tourist Office shop. Don’t forget to ask our front office staff the Santiago stamp "made in Tournai" to complete your credential.
