The belfry of Tournai welcomes you!
UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, the belfry of Tournai is the oldest in Belgium (1188). A symbol of communal freedoms, it proudly dominates the Grand-Place, alongside another colossus, Notre-Dame Cathedral. Dating from the 12th century, the belfry of Tournai is the oldest in Belgium. With its height of 72 m, the belfry dominates the Grand-Place square.
An emblematic monument of Tournai, the belfry has been the subject of an in-depth health analysis and archaeological study. These have enabled us to understand the evolution of this jewel of local heritage. The stone giant invites you to pay it a visit as far as the first panoramic terrace and the big bell, the Bancloque.
